What I have learnt from my College Magazine project

(1) What have I learned from my college magazine project?
From doing this project, I have given myself the chance to learn basic skills when using photoshop and also have been given tips on editing my images, using curves on my images too which I found made it really effective. Using PSbrushes and Da Font was a new thing for me as I’d not used them in the past, but I found them really useful and I made use of them quite frequently. It wasn’t the first time I’d used something using layers, but this was the first time I’d made use of them effectively and I liked the idea how I could do all different effects to the layers and link them etc;

(2) What do I need to improve?
If I stick to using a double-page spread for my contents page, I’d need to either put more information in, or at least re-think about what I wanted my finished item to be and try follow it more carefully. Or I could try put it onto one page as on the double-page spread at the moment there is a lot of free space. Also I feel I could have been more adventurous in what I was doing as I only done things which I was comfortable in doing.

College Mag Evaluation

College Magazine analysis/research

This magazine is for the Miami Dade College, north campus.
It is aimed at creative arts students, but also the younger generation, e.g. teens/young adults. The main image is an example of the sort of subject is included in the magazine, it shows the youth-like look as I feel it also backs-up my idea that it is aimed at younger people.
I like the idea that the creative arts have been portrayed through the image, as they are two child-like statues in the air. You feel like you are looking through what looks like an aeroplane window.
The front cover is set in poster format, but unusually the Masthead is on the right of the page, which it is usually on the left on a magazine.
